He's lovely, I hope the others birds dont pick on him.

I thought the same as they will attack and kill different colours to the area, they might mistake it for a pigeon colour though Dawn.

Thanks everyone .. he has been here about 3 years and the other birds haven't picked on him as far as we can tell , they don't appear to take any notice of him ............

Pleased to hear that Amy, as its colours fit in with pigeons like I said perhaps thats why.

We don't have a name for him Carole but we are happy to call him Minstrel as it does suit him , we will christen him tomorrow in your honour , thanks for the suggestion ... :o)

We are always pleased to see him Gee , we see him regularly in the summer but not up close like we do in the winter ....
We haven't seen the old cock pheasant that we call Charlie for ages , we think something must have happened to him , his son still come in each day at certain times for his feed ..... :o)

Oh, he's very nice! For many years we had a blackbird with a white tail lol The tail would grow and then drop out again and was sort of stunted. He became quite tame because we took pity on him and always fed him :-)

Thanks BB .. We have missed Charlie he was such a character , we know he was old as he had such huge spurs , he brought his youngster with him last year ( fred ) so it looks as if he has taken over his area , he comes looking for food at least twice a day .. in fact I believe he shelters in the shrubs down the garden as he has rushed out sometimes when I have gone to close !

Know how you feel Amy...Cyril our squirrel has also disappeared the last couple of months.Just had a couple of youngsters in the garden briefly but its not the same.Cyril virtually lived here and can only assume the worst. But thats life..........

Ahh thats sad BB .. I think we expect them to be around for ever , I was quite surprised to read the other day that ring necked doves only live three years , so for the last 15yrs. here they have constantly been changing from adult to youngsters without me being aware because they copy the adults before them and always behave the same ..... the one I have always called cheeky isn't cheeky at all .. LOL..

The typical lifespan of a Robin is only two years - makes you appreciate them all the more doesn't it ?

It does Muddywaters ... I am very attached to a lovely white fantail that has made it's home with us , it flew in a year ago last Sept . and stayed ...I would miss it dreadfully if anything happens to it !
