I like the look of that plant!

Is it a type of protea? I like it too :)

This is Protea cynaroides (King protea).
This photo was taken from an upstairs window, as it was the best view of the top of the flowers.
After the flowers had died down, my neighbour spotted a squirrel sitting on the fence eating one of these big flower heads.

Lovely looking plant, have you managed to save any seeds?
