Well TT - I bit like everything here - clay.
I do incorporate well rotted manure into the soil though and give this and the pieris a top dressing of manure too.

My soil is more acid TT and they grow well here , perhaps they aren't to fussy !
They are a lovely winter shrub Dawn and stay colourful for ages .. :o)

They are ericaceous but they do like to be well drained.......and love a good leafmold mulch......

skimmia is a lovely plant and yours looks very healthy but mine has something eating the leaves i dont see anything around the plant have you any ideas what it would be and how to get rid of it.It eats the green of the leaves and also eats a complete hole in the leaf too.

Hello Shamy, poor you, having your skimmia leaves nibbled. I dont think Ive noticed this problem with mine. Have you sprayed it against grubs?
