This is the entrance to my property and all during summer these beautiful poincianas greet us as we drive in!

Lol ... Drc ... when the poincianas start dropping all their leaves and their seed pods, it doesn't look so great!! But right now ... it doesn't look too bad. As you can see it's very dry here at the moment ... if we get decent rain it will look even better with a bit of green grass!

Yes thanks Holly - this is the time of year when the driveway entrance does look rather nice ... despite the lack of grass.

What a lovely home welcome everytime you go home...

Wow. This is a winner. Flowers and seedpods at the same time. Looks stunning. :~))

They are a magnificent looking tree when they're in bloom Muddy ... not so attractive when they've dropped their leaves and seed pods.

Bernieh:
Stunning entrance to your property! It looks like last
year's seed pods are still on the tree. Love it!
17 Dec, 2009
Yes there's still lots of seed pods on both of them - and there's still quite a few more buds to open yet! The one of the left always flowers earlier than the other one ... they're like a double act!

Bernieh:
Does the one on the left get more hot sun than the other? Delonix regia tends to bloom best when in the
hottest spot with the brightest sun.

Wow that is some entrance, do they have a perfume?
17 Dec, 2009
No DD ... no perfume on these ... and yes they're a great sight when I come up over the hill on my way home!

Love the long seed pods, they from last year?
18 Dec, 2009
Ooh! Very nice!

Hi DD ... the seed pods are the ones from earlier this year ... after it's flowering had ended by summer's end (end of Feb) and all the old pods had dropped, these seed pods appeared towards the end of autumn (May) and they've been hanging on every since. A few have dropped but most will drop towards the end of the flowering.

An awesome sight....

I love them! The ones here in San Diego have lots of leaves. Typically, they have no leaves on the trees this time of the year. It's because of the very hot weather in February.
