These two are along the road in Henry's Field where they put cattle this year. They are missing all their bottom branches now, but I still love how they stand there together. Willow and Spruce.

Wonderful picture of these two trees.

Thank you. I love looking at these two when I go town. The Black Spruce is aptly named in this impenetrable darkness all winter. Our frost is holding on tight this year, the wind hasn't even been able to break it out. Just the warmer hilltops.

I would too were they planted perposely together or naturally. At least the frost kills all the germs in the ground.

I think this is just left naturally. They are both a local native. The cold does keep our condition very clean.

That is great that they are natural, makes it more interesting, they are very effective with the white and the dark, I would be saying hello to them each time I passed lol.

Brilliant shot! Love the contrast between the two.

Thank you, they are a nice pair. The cattle may continue working at the willow until it is more shapely as well. This is between bush and tree forms. lol. I do say hello everyday. :-)

I am glad I m not the only one then lol, do the cattle nibble at it then.

Great image GT, they make me think of an old couple watching the world pass by, or just stopping to admire the view. :~)

Thank you for the lovely comments. They are nice to have to see, and light in winter, just perfect. The other direction is the mountain range view, I've stopped here for photos many times. :-)

Happy New Year Sandra. :-) It's been nice, cold and crisp. Sounds like its been a little crisp there as well. Still, a little snow flurry is a nice sight. hope it warms a little. :-)

Just seen this photo - we're in the grip of the snow & ice at the moment. The whole country has ground to a halt which is ridiculous (we're never ready - it doesn't matter how much notice we get). I'm watching breakfast tv (BBC) at the mo & the weather for today for the East Midlands (Derbyshire etc.,) is 'approx 2cms of snow & icy conditions'.
They've just been showing archive footage of 1963 when it snowed from December until the end of March (I was 16 and seem to remember we just thought it was normal winter weather) and 1981 when we had several weeks of snowy weather (which I also remember because our youngest was only a few months old & we couldn't use the pushchair at all.
Happy New Year - keep sending your pics & words in because I really enjoy your contributions.

Thank you Twiggy, I appreciate that. Addicted as I am, I can't imagine going without GOY! :-) I'd been so busym trying to catch up I can't believe what I'm seeing. We go through a few months of winter preparation each year, I'm not at all surprized that things have grinded to a halt. One plus is the snow keeps the plants all safe from the cold. 3/4 the world are colder than normal all at once right now, it is really something else. I think weather things are made a bigger deal now than they were in the past, we're used to having things go so fast and smooth these days. Indulge in some hot cocoa, watch for ice patches, and partake in a snowball fight while you can. :-)

It is warm here in comparison to the rest of the US ....feel a bit guilty and I would rather stay in the grip of winter for a while longer as I love it having been raised where the winter is really winter..by Mt. St. Helens..If it were not for the salt water that I love so much I would be a mountain person for sure... :)
