Gogeous shapes and planting.

Thanks sixpence, as you will see, the garden is short but very wide, so I thought it would be nice to try to create the feel of two small gardens with an almost complete border down the middle which is in the centre of this picture. I might put an arch over the lawn this year to give a further feeling of moving from one space to the next. What do you think?

Well I like gardens to have different sections so I would say yes arches give character too, to a garden.

The arch sounds wonderful. A centerpiece to grow up scramblers, especially with your penchant for clematis, and a perfect section divider.

Thanks! I'm thinking a simple wooden one to tie in with all the other wood in the garden, the greenhouse, the sleepers.....any one know of a good supplier of well priced wooden arches?

Totally agree Gardennome. I like the way you've done the back border Karen, so much more interesting.

Oh so do I Karen, where abouts have you put the arch? I quite fancy getting one for my garden. They have some nice ones in the garden centre (goy) at the top of the page.

Hi Skillen! I got my arch off the web...it is called Gardman Tan Elegance Wooden Arch. On my homepage, in my photos, there is a recently added picture showing where the arch is positioned. The idea was to create the illusion of passing from one garden 'room' to another....can't wait for the plants to grow now!

Thanks Daylily! I am trying to stop adding to the collection and propogate more of what I have now. I think it's better to have some contnuity in the garden rather than heaps of different things dotted all over the place. Better for the wallet too!

I know what you mean but there are so many different irresistable plants out there its hard not to, but that is also a good idea
