Sandra I used to do that with my big ones, reading my American book the author grows lots of Agave and she cuts the spikes off!!

They are pretty lethal aren't they, you ought to have seen me trying to repot mine this year, lol, had to break the pot in the end (luckily only a cheap one, the one its gone into isn't though), good idea DD never thought about cutting spikes off.

When ours get bigger I shall have to cut them off, too many grandchildren on the loose....

Not grandchildren with me(or better not be for a while) just one pretty silly labrador who has to have his nose in everything, lol.

Lovely little plant DD , I have agave americana which had babies last year, lol, quite worried about them this year in my unheated greenhouse but have come through the cold without flinching, even the babies.
