I think Andy,you can tell they were kept better in2006 then now. Newest pics show them starved for water..just dirt under them now.
They do look great there..that's another screenshot level photo.

I've seen them not too long ago...as I work relative close to this area. They don't look as good because the San Diego Blood Bank went into this location and they don't water all the very interesting palms...it's pretty sad. When Fuji Graphics were located here they took such great care of all the palms. Unfortunately, the larger Licuala spinosa with the 6' trunk was cut down. It was so, so sad!

Fortunately, there's a lot more Bottle palms planted around town that are growing very well.

Irony..the blood bank didn't want a palm with spines. Competition...

It's so sad because it takes so long to get one to grow so tall. Licuala spinosa is somewhat slow here...especially if it doesn't receive enough water. I believe the one with the 3' trunk is still there.
