This Giant Bromeliad is growing at Paradise Point Resort, Mission Bay, San Diego, CA. Photo taken Feb. 26, 2010.

It grows huge...it's the largest Vriesea species known. The flowers are gigantic, looking almost like an Agave flower spike. Check out some pics on the internet.
I have seen some much larger specimens than this one...however, I've never seen one bloom here before.
