Sanbaz - looking good. Check out www.stapelywg.co.uk - the website contains a lot of pond and moisture loving plants to give you some ideas. Don't forget you will need a few oxygenators to keep the water clear
29 Mar, 2010
thanx andrew, i will have a pump/filter but wont be on all the time so its best i get plants to help keep clear isnt it, i will look at that site, cheers andrew, glad you like my pond :o)

29 Mar, 2010
Looking good San, well done both! Exciting planting times ahead... :o))
29 Mar, 2010
Its great Sandra. I'm going to check out Andrew's suggested website. I've ordered some nice bog plants from Paul Bromfield Aquatics.
29 Mar, 2010
thanx sandra i feel so much better now its at this stage, poor baz is so tired today and his back hurts to, he said by the time im done with the garden he will be burried in it lol
Gee have a small one for wildlife, this is only about 12 inches deep which is plenty for wildlife pond :o) cant wait to plant it all up now,
thanx potty, once waterfall part is done i can plant, i may start right side as we dont have to walk there to do waterfall :o)
dawn i checked it out but couldnt find plants for sale, so think you have to get brochure, let me know if you find anything on there plez :o)
29 Mar, 2010
Hi Sandra, try this http://www.bromfieldaquatics.co.uk
Press Enter and click on plants. I ordered mine online. Hope Baz's back gets better soon.
29 Mar, 2010
thanx dawn i just found it and some lovely plants even for small ponds, when they are marginal does that mean i can plant then in the soil around the stone rather than in water or do they have to be in the waters edge,
29 Mar, 2010
Marginal like to be sitting in water about a couple of inches deep and bog like soil to be soggy but a bit free draining.
29 Mar, 2010
thanx dawn, will remember that, i want some nice plants to go inbetween rocks but not sure which to get and i will have to stand marginals on pebbles as the marginal shelf isnt very wide,it would be ok for smalest of plants though
29 Mar, 2010
Yep, they also sell nice ferns that are happy in damp conditions, Ive ordered a couple. What sort of size/height plant would you like between the rocks.
29 Mar, 2010
i just want low growing really dawn, i dont mind stems coming up from clumps if you know what i mean, just so it fills the gaps with some interest :o)
29 Mar, 2010
Hmmm, I'll have to think about it Sandra. All sounds good and exciting. I know now why you wanted a Gunnera. Im off now, I'll be in touch x
29 Mar, 2010
thanx dawn , im off to so nite nite :o) x
29 Mar, 2010
Excellent, well done hard work paid off, you have a good sized area to plant all those plants you bought, looks so much bigger now. OH would agree with Baz about being buried in the garden, he is 8 years older than me, and he keeps saying "you forget how old I am" lol
29 Mar, 2010
lol dotty thats what baz says as he is 8 years older than me,ive made a start at planting dotty but so muddy and wet, also i get a bit worried about what goes where with height, seems alot of space but when plants start to grow end up moving them again lol i bourght a pond lily and iris today, complete kits, 2 for £10, so saves buying pond composs and gravel and baskets,
30 Mar, 2010
If I put a pond in it would just get flooded, Sanbaz. I did think about a raised one but decided it was too much effort and would take too much space. I will just make do with the village pond :)
30 Mar, 2010
hi San ..Jane here...popped on to see your pond...its just great ! Glad you surrounded with stones...gives the baby frogs easy access in and out ! Our pond is 3 years old and you would think it had been there forever. My favourite marginal is our large marsh marigold..this year it has doubled in size and started creeping across the water surface ! Will post a pic when its in flower...budding at the moment !
30 Mar, 2010
what a shame Gee, i could imagine you would like one with loving all the wildlife, what about a half barrel like i have and think mookins has one to, they can look nice and my birds bath in it in summer :o))
hi jane nice to see you, ive sent msg, i like the marsh marigolds to,your pond does look like its been there longer so natural looking :o))
30 Mar, 2010
Thanks San...its my favourite place to sit. This year going to get some solar lights to place around it too....thats providing we get some sun ! Lol
30 Mar, 2010
yes jane i want a light there, we have electric for border lights so wont be a prob, like you said if we get sun, im not holding my breath lol
30 Mar, 2010
So heres to long summer evenings and the gentle sound of trickling water ! Bliss..............:o)
30 Mar, 2010
i`ll drink to that jane, sounds great :o)))

Lovely to have a pond in the garden.
1 Apr, 2010
it will be linda when its sorted out lol
1 Apr, 2010
WHen we lived where we had our smallholding a couple of homes ago, we had a small garden that adjoined the land and Gerry built a raised pond then a lower type one with bog type plants in it and the frogs used to breed in there.
2 Apr, 2010
sounds good linda, im going to bring the new liner right over a couple of feet over grass so when it rains its not soaking down to pondge edge, and the same with the slope, alot more overlap all round, the pond man said it should do it and make a mound which the liner goes over, like a sleeping policeman if you know what i mean :o))
2 Apr, 2010
Your pond is looking so good now Sandra. Just need to get your new plants around there-that's the best part! :-)
5 Apr, 2010
