The boreal is shy and much less common to see. I have a breeding pair this year, instead of just one! I'm so excited. And they are staying. Being a tough with the common chickadee as the redpolls!

Thank you Gurth, Gee, Clarice. This one took patience and a lot of shots.....lol. I love that they have chosen to live here! I hope they nest in the big spruce out front!
The chickadee is so named as their song is chick-a-dee-dee-dee-dee. They are year round at this feeder, a close relative of the Tit. They aren't singing that song right now though, they are crooning to find mates, sweet things.

This is a nice shot of the feeder. I would very much like to find one like it.

I come up with the best results searching by blown glass bird feeders, for a little step ahead. That narrows the search just enough. :-) Hope you can find one you like Mike.

This is a lovely pic Gt...........what a sweet looking little bird and beautiful feeder.........

Thank you Janey. They are very sweet, and shy. I love having a couple claiming the feeder as their spot this year. :-)

Thanks GT, I'm going to take a look on the Internet.

He looks similar to our Tit family.......bigger than the Blue Tit, but not as sleek as the Great Tit..........

I did investigate and the chickadee and tits are closely related. Just different names across the pond. :-)

That explains it then Gt........the name Chickadee is especially nice.....I have an old Observer bird book and the Tit family are really Titmouse. The Great Titmouse's call is See-saw see-saw, whereas the Blue Titmouse is Ch-ch-si-si-si
very similar to your Chickadee.............

Very similar. I think they are just adorable. And so tough, they are the only bird I know that stays for the winter.

First time I have seen such a bird, lovely to see new life.

I love the spring birds. They even have a different song than any other time of year. :-) Thanks Dotty

This is beautiful, how come I have missed all these beautiful shots of yours, but then, I was decorating my bedroom around those dates. :))

Thanks Michaella. I can get very caught up feeling like I 'missed' something...lol. Now I just look at what I can, no worries. This little rascal yelled at me all afternoon today for sitting too close to the feeder before finally starting to fly in to snatch up a seed and flit away.

An outstanding photo, I doubt if anyone would paint as well as this...
I like the word chickadee very much, it is fairly new to me I think.
