I always find Bergenia an untidy plant but the colour is too good to miss out on. The castellated building in the background makes a lovely picture.

I never used to like it but now I find myself wanting one in my front garden, the colour is great.

Have to agree with Scotsgran regarding Bergenias, too scruffy, never did at all well with them, love the photo though.

I used to have this in a previous garden and, yes, found the leaves were a bit of an eyesore, but the blooms quite stunning. The building behind is called the "Dutch Village" and is an island feature in the boating pond, reached by a bridge. It used to have a cafteria and playground at its centre, but is now sadly closed.
