i have had to rescue my frogs twice this week from casper, first one in kitchen, second on patio, they looked ridged and dead but they must make themselves like that for protection, i placed in net and slowely lowered in pond till they came round, then they swam off thankfully

Never had any here, no pond, but did have a Toad jump out at me from the log-pile once ! I was so surprised, must have scared him off, not seen him again !

i had them even without pond shirley, i think as there are so many ponds about here they came to eat my snails lol, i havent seen my toad this year yet, does give you a jump if not expecting it ;o))

Mungo used to bring frogs indoors and Chloe used to come running and tell me! I often thought they were dead but they were just pretending. I used to hide them in a flowerpot (on its side) close by the pond until they recovered.

Good job you're around to help them San.....

Great save San. Froggy looks appreciative. :-) I had to take one from Bianca too. Glad to hear they'll play dead. She only likes something moving.

It's strange to think of a cat going after a frog. I've never seen any of mine do it. They have all been so disinterested in them. I have a toad in my garden and Blodyn shows no interest in it at all . I'm glad really :o))

Hywel i was saying before none of mine have botheredbefore, but at this house dont see any frogs or toads, so may be these two little rascals wont get a chance to do it (watch this space) :o))

Great capture Sandra-you did well to get such a clear close-up shot :-)
Sorry to hear about your lost fish :-(
26 Jun, 2010
Sorry Sand don't like frogs. Nice pic tho. lol. Have a toad in my garden. not sure. may be more, but as long as I don't see them, they can stay. ha ha. Oh, and I don't have a pond. Hubby said we've had a toad living in our greenhouse for quite some time. Thank heavens I didn't know.lol. I'm sorry about your fish, maybe it is the heat.

Place a wire screen over the pond for a bit and see if the fish stop disappearing. Might be a bird coming and scooping them one at a time. Hope not though. You're water lily may give a good cover soon too if its a bird.

youve got a pump on your pond havnt you.....if not it could be lack of oxygen in water..... i put a bit of water in the pond when i hose the plants in this hot weather.....hope the rest are ok....

Oh. Sorry to hear it. Maybe once the pond is well settled another bunch may do better. Might need to season like a fish tank?
