Pond and Lily

There is a different sort of wetland south of the mountains, more mild and such lush growth. You can feel the ocean on this side, 100 miles south.

Where they Nymphaea, alas, they are not. :-) This pond lily forms just a yellow cup with the actual flower huddled inside. This is as far as they will open. As close as we come this far north. Southeast Alaska has a native Nymphaea, lovely white.
