This is a spectacular plant when grown in a big pot. This is the best year ever. I have more time now to water and fuss over the pots, as we can't go away due to GJ not being well. In the ground they eventually make a huge clump, but very slowly. Slugs and snails find them tasty and a snug resting place in the leaves after dining. You can start them off from a little offshoot or a massive bulb found in most good GCs.

Grrr! Flippin Slug's & Snails I have lost many a plant to them, I cant even use slug pellets now becouse of my Dog Pebbles, mind you I have put some round my bean and put a chicken wire fence round them to keep her off. :O))))
If you lived near me I would of asked you for an off shoot bulb, cheeky me LOL
By the way where do you live if you don't mind me asking, I'm in Leigh-on-Sea Essex
Don't anwser that if you don't want to :o))))

Went to Hyde Hall yesterday. Perfect weather. Lots of Crinum, same as mine, in the dry garden. Strange, as I thought it was also called the 'swamp lily'. Mine needs rather a lot of water. They seem to come from the far east, like Borneo. The victorian lady artist called Marianne North seems to paint them near water. This lady was painting in 1871 onwards for 16 years, on site, all over the world. Her specially built gallery is at Kew. I have yet to get to see it. Recently someone did a project on some of her paintings of scenery.....then and now.......very very scary.
