Will they do harm in my garden? Not sure by your comment, Terratoonie.

Snails eat lots of plants...
Try clicking on S in the GoYpedia alphabet at the base of the page...
that will take you to lots of pics and comments about snails.

I hope this helps :o)

Terratonnie....I've just read up on the snails/slugs. Found it informative and also entertaining in parts.

I'll have to get out there and start spreading some pellets and I also want to get some copper self-adhesive tape as they are getting into our garage as well.

Yes... the problems with pellets is that they could kill other wildlife... e.g. birds etc... I try not to use pellets....

I saw an organic pellet mentioned on the snail reference page so will try and get that. It won't harm wildlife....I agree with that too.

There were quite a few different ideas for snail/slug remedies. I might have fun trying them all.

Yes there are organic pellets... and beer... all sorts..:o)

I do want a small water feature but not anything that would be a danger to our grandchildren....and our garden is not all that big so I'm not sure if I'd fit a pond in but I really like your idea, San.

doesnt have to be big and like you say with the grankids to, i have to watch baz`s grankids when they come even though mine isnt deep, it doesnt take a lot for a child to drown, but like you say a small water feature or orimentle pond would be great, richardpee has a old bowl which he turned into a water feature and has had frogs already, good luck ;o))

That idea of richardpee will be worth looking at. Thanks for the thumbs up on that, San. Maybe I'll have frogs yet!...and less snails too!

Hey! I saw the pic that was taken on you photo's of the pond with the fountain, you could to a small one like that in your garden, it doesn't need to be deep just a finger deep and filled with large pebbles :o))))

My hubby would have a fit if I wanted a grand fountain...but a small one I may just get away with...it's on my mind to do something with water (especially if I can get a tinkling effect)...I really like those sounds.

Thanks for your replies, Ladyessex. :)

How about a small log pile to encourge other wildlife into the garden to eat the slugs and snails? I've just made one under the malus. Even a small water feature will encourage frogs. I have a small water jar near the rockery that overflows into a submerged sump, when I move the jar I often find frogs :o)

Yes, Mandy...I've seen the photo of your rockery (and commented)...it's lovely. We don't have any electric so I would likely need to go solar....there haven't been many good compliments about solar fountains so I'm undecided.

A log pile would be an idea although I suppose it would need to be in a shady spec of the garden? I could easily incorporate logs near to the old wood fence area but it is in full sun most of the day...maybe not a good situation?
I'll have to investigate further.
