Great pic! It looks like a tropical rain forest.

Thanks Delonix - not what you really expect to find in the English countryside at all!!

Meanie:
I saw on the internet that Heligan's Gardens are located in southern England. Do you live far from these gardens? I appears to have a pretty mild climate to have bananas growing there.

I can't say that I saw any fruits on them Delonix (although my hangover was immense).
We live just over 200 miles away, but whilst not a huge distance between us our average temps are very different. RAF Brize Norton, which is three miles from my house regularly records some of the lowest overnight winter temperatures in the UK whilst our summer temps are at the upper end of the scale!

Meanie:
Most likely bananas wouldn't fruit in such a northerly climate. Bananas usually need a frost-free, warm climate to produce fruit. Bananas take from 4 - 6 months from flowering to ripen. (so the immense hangover probably didn't much of a difference. LOL! )
It's all about micro-climates. We have so many here also.

That place is on my must see list alongside the Abbey gardens on Tresco
