This may be the same Dahlia we grow in our gardens but I couldn't find a plaque with its name on.

Glad you liked it! :-)) My friend Gerry has some very similar plants growing in his front garden. He says they are called Bishop of Llanstoff.

Sorry but I got the spelling of the plant I mentioned wrong. Here is the correct spelling: Bishop of Llandaff. I found the correct spelling by doing a search I came up with a Wikipedia entry & a BBC entry: http://www.bbc.co.uk/gardening/plants/plant_finder/plant_pages/254.shtml

Oh thank you....I did a google search and couldn't find it...now I know why...lol
I'll take a look now...It says on your link it is recommended for experienced gardeners....perhaps wouldn't be suitable for me to plant, being a 'newbie' to all of this.

I wouldn't take much notice of that, most Dahlias will grow perfectly fine for everyone. They grow from tubers or seed & are pretty much infallible. They may be a little tricky to keep over winter other than that you could grow them just fine.
