Autumn: My Work Garden

Autumn: My Work Garden

Here is some of the perennial yard that I have been tending this summer. I should have thought to take a shot during the summer when rows of delphinium and such were in bloom, but today was the day. Mornings are beautiful, the first since spring with this slanted new sunlight.

It must be nice to work in such a place. What happens in the winter (I hope you don't think I'm nosey lol - I was only wondering )

Not at all, Hywel. :-) We have cut them all down and placed them in broad rows on the ground covered in a sheet of gardeners fleece and hilled in around the sides with sawdust. We hilled in all the potted shrubs and trees as well, it was quite a job, but very interesting. Now they are already looking like mounds of snow. This shot was late August.

You have snow allready ??

That we do. Daily highs are about 2C at best. This is actually late snow. We had a nice long drawn out autumn this year.

I hold back pretty well. Didn't take too long before I realized that I was caring for enough things at work not to bring home too much. :-) Yes it is cold again here, back to normal I call it......lol

We are doing the same here now GT. Everything gets mounded with wood chips for the winter. At least we don't have snow yet. In fact it has been very mild here.

Fall was very mild when we had it. Good weather for that fall work. Last few days we've been putting on base without really thawing out anymore. I had my mulch of old hay on at home in time.

I'm well stocked with straw this year for my own roses this year too. I have 6 bales waiting to be spread. Just waiting for the ground to freeze.

We could say it a sad time of year, but I like wrapping everything up all cozy for a winter sleep. Like tucking in the children. :-)

Thank you. :-) I call it a gazebo but I've heard both. Its all fresh and new, still settling into its new area.
