me too Yorkshire, thats why I took the pic. Also Id never seen a pure yellow but guess I wasnt looking too hard previously

Really? Guess he must take it in each winter. It might survive in mine til it got cold, but it wouldnt survive my ministrations indoors!

I was uncomfortable using the word 'gay' when our son first told us he was homosexual. We had known a friend many years ago whose first name was Gay and I've often thought how she'd cope these days, given the change of useage.

I don't have a better word to use than 'gay' and I'd just add that the word is reverting to a word of abuse now....people and especially younger people who are not homosexual are using it as a put down and an offensive expression. I find that sad.

I know language changes but it can get confusing. Just as an aside, I've dressed in purple today as it is a day for recognizing people who are stigmatized (not just gay) because they are different. It's an attempt at awareness of prejudice and felt I did need to participate.

Our son is very special to us, talented, witty, sociable, well educated and it is sad to hear of so many young people who are so distressed by taunts and bullying that they end their own lives. I always think how awful it is for parents to cope with the devestating loss.

Sorry....this isn't intended to be a nasty comment or a rebuke to anyone. Just a mom's heart. x

well said Wlass, the young ones are so hatefull these days and im sure they realise this as they grow up a bit more and then realise how nasty they have been to people, but alass some dont wich is even sader, or is it the parents who dont educate their children to be fare and accept people for who they are and not what they are, a sad world im affraid, im with you on this Wlass x

My nephew has just married his handsome young Brazilan partner. Its not what I would chose for my child, but children dont belong to you but themselves. What they chose is for them and you must accept it. Three of my friends have lost sons before the boys were 50. It is totally devastating whatever the reason.

Yes, M...losing a child/son is devestating. One of my best friends from high school days (we're still in touch) lost her son to cancer and his passing will be 6 yrs. this Sunday. She is still lost without him.

You both (M and San) have said it so well...accept our kids for who they are and not what they are; they do not belong to us. It's a parent's job to bring them up to be good citizens and then release them to go their way in the world...gay or otherwise...they are always loved.
