I will let you know, DD. Our married daughter loves stollen so that was why I thought I'd give it a try. Maybe I'll have to get busy and make it sooner as a trial :)

Nobody on a diet then? as you all want loads of butter......sorry eaten most of it today!! that is the trouble with freshly baked bread, although it is more filling than shop bread.
Stripes it was Allinson's Seed and Grain white bread flour (on the 4 hour large loaf setting) can recommend it!!

I gave my breadmaker away...it was a danger to the family's health!! I still make my own bread, but I do it the slow way, that way I only have time to do it a couple of times a week and not so tempting!! Yours looks wonderful Daisy..yum!

our son is 43, he is gorgeous, if I may say so, every year we have to buy him a stollen cake and Gift wrap it, he will not share with anyone, always bought from Lidl but last year when we went they had sold out so big panick on, we went to Aldi and got one from there, he said it was far nicer than Lidl, but now you said about Morrisons might just buy one from there, many thanks, I would still like to try and make one though.

And you're welcome Yorks :) I've also sent the recipe to you, DottyDaisy2 in a pm. You'd expressed an interest. If anyone else wants the recipe just give me a shout.

We have bought them from most places now, Morrisons do a rather nice more of a loaf kind of stollen which is different (if that is the one San is talking about) if you want luxury you cannot beat M & S and the Co-op, it really depends just how much marzipan you like in the middle? and how sweet, or how moist etc ( I did a test on them all one Christmas) oh and Tesco was good too........and I wonder why I cannot lose weight lol

Looks delicious. I use the Wrights bread mixes and make it by hand follow the instructions and bake in the oven and it always turns out good. Their cake mixes are good too especially the chocolate fudge and the ginger cake. Yum..... I had a go at baking a banana tea loaf yesterday and we ate some for lunch with BUTTER on. I ommitted the brazils and replaced with walnuts in the recipe.

Very tasty looking! Lovely warm bread, sliced thickly, smothered in thick, creamy jersey butter..............
Right, I'm off for some lunch before I tuck into the computer monitor!!

Thanks Lindak, it is that time of year for baking isn't it?.........Geranium you have got me going now, all this talk of creamy jersey butter..........lol

It must be the turn in the weather...I've been using my breadmaker for the last couple of weeks but so far have only made white and 50% wholemeal (prefer that to the white).
Looks delicious....I used to make a granary loaf similar to yours.
I'm going to try a new recipe too...its for stollen...bought all the ingredients last week and will make it a bit nearer to Christmas.
