it is unbelievable and the stuff of dreams ~ ive been there twice now, first time was 5 years ago and i still have the photo on my phone as its main screen cos its my favourite!

With 4 kiddies eating me out of house and home, a trip to Italy will have to wait! Unless I win the lottery which is unlikely as I dont do it. I have been looking on tinternet at the place: oh goodness, retirement can't come soon enough!

oh thats sad. we didnt go till the children had left home. i wish they were still here tho. i did a degree when they left ~ didnt work, still missed them!

Sky Blue football lol. They have made an island on one of the roads, and built a large blue ribbon, which Cashs made years ago, have you ever heard of Cashs ribbons and silk pictures, they are collectables, which they cannot find any more, but I know who has one the Queen to get the right colour from it as the town can't find the true colour , as the town presented her with the sky blue ribbon years ago, you ll see it here 2nd photo in

oh you must!!! it is such a beauty. we got a taxi from riva but we walked back down. also there is a restaurant looking over the lake but you cant see it from the lake, i think i had trout possibly, it was delicious.

Are you ever likely to go back?

not impossible. not sure. we have booked a week on Harris this year [Hebrides] but OH did talk about going back to Garda later in the year, depends a bit on whether he decides to retire early or not.

We always stay down in a tiny fishing port called Porto Portese (did you see my photo?). Used to call in at Riva on the way to and from holiday, but never rated it highly enough to stay. Try Gardone Riviera some time!

ah i remember now. we have briefly visited gardone but spent longer in limone and found a lovely restaurant that does the most incredible ice cream.

This is the wrong time to be reading this - I have just been striken with a very sudden and extremely painful bout of heartburn!

oh no!!!

Wonderful things, Boots indigestion tablets! All sorted in a matter of ten minutes - and it took nearly all of those just to find the darned tablets. It was so sudden and so painful, the first time this happened, about 18 months ago, I seriously though I might be having some kind of heart attack. I'd NEVER had bad indigestion before in my life, so didn't recognise it for what it was. I was diagnosed with diverticulitis last summer, and every now and then it flares up, and is accompanied by all sorts of unpleasant things: I made the mistake of cooking a Thai stirfry three nights ago, and probably overdid the chilli, which has irritated my insides, and so am feeling a bit under the weather, and means I shan't be leaving the safety of the house for another few days. Growing old is a damned nuisance - things keep going wrong, or failing to go at all, or dropping off, or doing things they didn't oughter. The worst bit is not knowing whether to panic when all these malfunctions manifest themselves. You either get branded a hypochondriac, or get bawled out for not going to a doctor sooner. You can't win!

its not nice getting older and definitely not nice feeling unwell; mother in law has diverticulitis and it seems to be quite unpredictable.

When it was eventually diagnosed, it was quite a relief - I always imagine the worst! At least it gets better in between bouts.
