Hong Kong Orchid trees are very widely planted throughout San Diego, CA. as a street and landscape tree. It's winter blooming flowers are large and very deliciously fragrant. Photo taken Dec. 2, 2010.

The Hong Kong Orchid trees here started blooming in Oct. and will bloom until the early spring. This past summer many Hong Kong Orchid trees were in bloom due to the unusually cool summer. It was very strange!

Ours are just barely showing the "buds that will become the buds", as it were. Unless it is going to be unusually warm, we probably need to wait at least another month, here.
