OH said thank you all very much, Alex, your welcome anytime, hope you enjoyed yours Sticki, I certainly did,Homebird I never thought about freezing them down, what a good idea, we always have them 1st with gravy, only way really,I remember my Mum having jam on them, Lulu go get your glasses on please, you'll end up a walking nightmare,Amy here you go, your honoured my husband giving his recipe away,
for 12 puddings.
4oz plain flour
4 eggs
half pint milk,
salt pepper.
WHISK well and leave in the cool for a few hours, oven 220d or 200 fan oven, put the lard in the pudding tins until piping hot, whisk again so there are lots of air bubbles in the mixture, divide to the tins and cook for 20/25 mins, turn down the heat to 200/180fan and cook for a further ten minutes, Enjoy.

14 Jan, 2011

Good luck Amy, we hope they turn out great for you, Lin if its a fan oven as we have he cooks them on the 2nd shelf up from the bottom.

14 Jan, 2011

owww they do look good : O ))

14 Jan, 2011

Lovely yorkshires. Didn't the people in Yorkshire have them first with gravy then eat the rest of their meal on another plate or have I been told a fable.

15 Jan, 2011

thats true Lin, we always eat ours as a starter.

15 Jan, 2011

They had their Yorkshire puddings as a starter first, because it helped to fill them up,as they couldn't afford to have a bigger portion of meat...and still have Y,pudding with the main meal as well..!My mum used to have a couple with sugar on, as her pudding, but I didn't like it like that..The secret to them rising well,as Val and her Hubby will agree,I'm sure..the fat has to be sizzling hot, before adding the mixture..so be patient,it takes a few minutes....Val,I often make double the quantity,in advance, cook them, and when cold, open freeze them on 2 baking trays,or one at a time ,if space is limited ,to keep them flat. When frozen, just bag them up,I do 6 to a bag. so easy and quick just to reheat when you want some..about 150/160 fan..on a preheated tray...about 5 minutes...I don't let them brown too much when cooking ,as they will brown more on reheating...My first ones I ever made, were flat as pancakes, and Russell asked if we were having cheese with them..Lol.he thought they were crackers...I cried..newly wed..divorce was imminent...but we weathered the storm..:o)))

15 Jan, 2011

I think I will start freezing them down, sounds a good idea. everything you say is so right about puddings, my Mum had then cold with jam on, as you say the fat needs to be sizzling, hope you and russel are fine, had to laugh at you and your puddings, cheese!!! lol

16 Jan, 2011

They were such a disaster,Val,..and I was a bit over sensitive..not any more! my motto now,is eat it or leave it.Lol..not that he ever does leave anything,so I must have improved over the years..I never did any cooking at home,as my mum didn't work, and there was always a lovely aroma and good food waiting for me and dad..so I was a complete dumbo, when it came to cooking..
I was surprised you used 4 eggs in your recipe,I only use 3 to 6oz flour...I suppose we all have different methods, but if they work for us,that's ok..We are both fine,Val,hope you and Ralph are too...X

16 Jan, 2011

Oooooh yummy I'm only just back on line we have been poorly so missed sending in a request...... maybe next time!! Uncle Ralph's better than Aunt Bessie's by far!!

16 Jan, 2011

12 Feb, 2011

I do believe I am cracking up here, I am going to look at you tube to find out what you have been viewing, Hi Ho silver, whatever next. what was it called you were looking at please

12 Feb, 2011

hurry up Tet I have youtube waiting on,

12 Feb, 2011

sorry Yorkie, been gardening...I googled The Lone Ranger's Horse and chose the video from Utube.

12 Feb, 2011

well you certainly took your time Mrs. its to cold to be in the garden,

12 Feb, 2011

But the sun was shining (cold wind tho) and things to do cos its gonna rain tomorrow..sorry ole thing I should have heard you from the greenhouse..but getting deaf in me old age!

12 Feb, 2011

try taking a fog horn with you next time then, that might help,we had a bit of sun but just far to cold, yer, rained all night here and more forecast for tomorrow,

12 Feb, 2011

Praps you can lend me your ear trumpet Yorkie! Pity its not a bigger greenhouse...cant get the mod cons in this one, only 6 x 4...no room for a chair or coffee percolator..thinking of putting down old piece of carpet to stop cold feet tho..
Could to with Bampy, Id love a bank of levers where you could pull one and out comes the compost into the tray, then another for vermiculate, another for grit and a mechanical spoon to mix it for you...
I could just see myself, sat on chair coffee in one hand, fag in the other..pulling levers and watching the plants being potted up lol!
Did you find Silver on the utube?

12 Feb, 2011

Thanks for the recipe..yum:-) Tet's turned into Wallace (except for the fag) it won't help with your weight loss regime Tet, you'd be better doing a few laps around the greenhouse;-)

13 Feb, 2011

Standing still in one place while I pot on 20 plants doesnt help with my poor ankles either Ba, but 20 laps to and from plants shelves outside do! Then a trip around all the beds to see how everything doing..dont tell anyone, but I bend down to touch each plant and whisper in their ears to grown up nice and strong!

13 Feb, 2011

obviously you have better wetaher than us down there if you are outside, very windy here with rain today, enjoy your greenhouse.

13 Feb, 2011

Raining all day here, miserable grey day:-(

13 Feb, 2011

A large warm cardi and a shawl sized scarf over my head does it..its sort of drizzley with intermittant steadier rain..the cardi keeps the wind out!

Dont ask me what I must look like..neighbours already think Im mad!

13 Feb, 2011

whats new, so do we,

13 Feb, 2011

LOL! Glad I wasnt drinking when I read that!!!!!

13 Feb, 2011
