What a beautiful bank of flowers! Makes you think what you can do with a slope. Cant be easy to maintain but by the look of this..very much worth it! Ive added it to my favs cos I really love this!

Oh,

20 Jan, 2011

lovely anne, is this now its so pretty even in winter,

20 Jan, 2011

San, have you been drinking? lol........it's nice in the midlands, but it's not Tenerife!! ;))

20 Jan, 2011

What a lovely, pretty bank of flowers and shrubs, roll on summer!

20 Jan, 2011

I have to admit, ann, if that ceanothus wasn't there it would really lose something. I do hope it will recover. San, please forgive me, that was terribly cheeky! I am feeling very cross with myself!!

20 Jan, 2011

Karen I had the same diagnosis on San....never mind hun this was taken in May. It looks like yukk right now. Also Karen I will be gutted if the Ceo dies, It's a very old friend but not one from Wilby so I will need ideas for a replacement. Did you read my dead or not dead question yesterday?

20 Jan, 2011

Yes I did, it looks like best thing to do is wait....darn! I'm going to be waiting on quite a few things too...

Ceanothus Autumnal Blue and Concha (Both babies and black)
Cotoneaster Exburiensis, all five, black (but I think they'll be ok, pretty confident about them)
Cytisus Battandieri...silver but dead leaves...it made it through last winter so there's hope!
Euonymus Japonicus...not looking good at all, in the greenhouse trying to revive!
Hardy Fuchsias, who knows?
Hedera Canariensis...black
Itea...looks dead
Photinia Red Robin and Camilvy..both badly damaged
Pittosporums...all defoliated
Sarcococca Digyna...badly damaged, may be dead
Sempervivums ....gone
Solanum....who knows but I'm not confident
Stachyurus Praecox...looks dead
Viburnum Tinus...two looking dead
New standard Bay, looks half dead

I hope they all survive but I'm pretty sure some of them are dead. :((

20 Jan, 2011

Escalonias, Hardy fuschias etc....after all that advice I gave all I can say is I have never seen any of my gardens looking like this....:-((((

20 Jan, 2011

At least San will be ok......:o))))))

20 Jan, 2011

No, me neither, but i worry that winters will be like this for a while, so I shan't buy any more plants that are not tough as old boots for a while....see that's what I say NOW...but just you wait...I'll be at it all over again come the spring!

20 Jan, 2011

nicely done, good mix of colour and interest going on..is there anything planned to be added this time round?

21 Jan, 2011

I don't even dare to look too closely at my garden, it all looks pretty dead!!!!!!!!!!!!

21 Jan, 2011

24 Jan, 2011

25 Jan, 2011

Thanks Sticki :o))

I have a garden I look after and the Ceo's there looked pretty dead after winter 2009/10 so we decided to take them out, so I cut them back totally ready to tackle the roots and a few weeks later they were greening up again! They do look ropey after a hard winter though. Thats why I don't dare have one! or two!

26 Jan, 2011

mine has been looking well past its best for a few years but decidedly worse now - its in the shade which doesnt help, its a shame cos it looked so lovely with a copper beech behind it. im not sure whether to take it out or try cutting it back?

26 Jan, 2011

decisions, decisions!!

26 Jan, 2011

Try cutting it back first Sticki, you may be surprised!

26 Jan, 2011

i shall have a closer look and then a bit of a cut back ~ thanks.

26 Jan, 2011

It may look pretty ropey till late spring! :0(
