Small (in a 30mm pot), but cheap too at £1.50!

I wouldn't like to pronounce that name after one or two G & T's ... Lovely healthy looking plant Meanie !

I used to have one of these. It was called Haworthia margaritifera in those days. It has stripey flowers on a tall spike :o)

I've got this one! I planted it out in the ground last summer and had a very long and thin thread-like flower spike. Please check that out if you are interested:

Yes, this plant and many other species and hybrids are extremely common here in San Diego. :>)

Has it bloomed in the past?
I have several neighbor's who have this plant or other species of Haworthia. I'll have to see if they're blooming now. I can't remember if this plant blooms in summer or fall.

It had a spent flower spike on it when I bought it.........

Mine has just finished blooming. It had one flower spike last year and had 3 this summer. The flowers are very tiny but very pretty with white and pale purple. Loving it!

It survived the winter outdoors?
6 Aug, 2011
No, Meanie. I took it indoors to overwinter. I'll do the same in November or December. A bit of work involved, planting it out and bringing in every year, but I think it grows better in the ground in spring/summer, so it's worth it :-)

Wonderful plant, looks like it has come from the bottom of the ocean, with the tentacles flowing about.
