Violas doing well, but the crocuses won't open as we've had no sun.

I thought I did one on winter containers, didn't I? I'm sure I did....now you've got me wondering!
Have you seen trailing pansies? They seem to be in all the catalogues. Trailing foliage is lovely too...

I know what you mean about the lack of sun, lots of large mauve Crocus staying firmly closed. : o ( Could it be the blog 'Going potty' in early November? I kept it as a favourite! : o )

Beautiful combination of colours, Spritz! I've never seen a trailing pansy - sounds lovely.

Have you grown those trailing pansies B? I've often seen them, but never seen them growing yet.

Thanks - I'm pleased with it, I admit. :-) I just wish the crocuses would open!
No, Karen, I haven't grown the pansies, but I just might....the other plant that would fit the bill for you is a trailing begonia called 'Million kisses'. They're not the large ones, they're really pretty little flowers. I grew some in a container last year and they flowered and flowered. You can either buy them as plants, or grow them from corms (starting now!)

I love this colour Viola, beautiful with the lilac crocuses Barbara!

Thank you - the plan was that the base of the crocuses, which is amber, would match the violas! Some plan - foiled by lack of sun. :-((

Thanks, Motinot - we had some sun this morning to open up the crocuses, but I was soooooo busy in the garden I didn't get to them before they closed up again. :-((

In spite of no sunshine, that is really pretty. B, where's that blog on container recipes you were going to do?...;) sorry, but you are really great at containers, I could do with some suggestions. Last year I had strawbs in those lovely chequered basket ones on my back wall and mini surfinias in the deep baskets at the front. This year I want to do something much more interesting at the front, still with lemon and white and lots more trailing stuff. Ideas for the chequered ones at the back? no sun before lunch time......have a think!
