You're welcome, Meanie. I hope your bulb will flower later this year. My original red one sometimes flowered twice in one year! This one is probably one of the seedlings that flowered for the first time last year.

Glad you liked it, Pp! I have two more with buds that should open during the next week or two. I don't know what colour they will be.

Well another one from the kitchen windowsill seems to be another all red. I still have one in the bedroom that should be ready to bring into the living room sometime this week. I don't know yet what colour it will be.

I received two total duds as gifts this year. I chopped off their leaves, took them out of pots, put them on there side in the cellar. Is there any hope for them Balcony?

Hi, Regina, sorry to hear about your poor bulbs! :-(( I'm afraid you did the worst thing possible for your bulbs by cutting off their leaves. They need their leaves to grow as long as possible so as to build up their reserves for the next season. It's the same with all bulbs, once they have finished flowering they need to rebuild the reserves & they do so by growing their leaves as long as possible.

These bulbs need as much sun as you can give them during the summer as they originate from hot dry climes with cold, but not freezing, winters. To get them to flower you need to feed them during their growing period, preferably with tomato or rose fertilizer so they can build up energy to flower the following year. Their natural period of flower is in the spring. Mine flower in April. Some may flower earlier or later.

Hope this helps you. I hope your bulbs will now flower in the future.
