It's approx. 10 years old Angela / Barbara , we give it a jolly good hair cut every autumn sometimes taking a good 2/3 ft off the top as it grows a lot during the summer season ... your little one will start to grow this year Angela it's been settling in , I hope you find a nice one when you decide to have one Barbara :o)

Amy would it be a good idea to prune ours to make it bush out?

That's a nice idea Janey for a hedge ..
I would prune it Dd ,decide on the shape you want it to be , take it of the top to make it bush out and any longish bit from the sides to make it a nice uniform shape if not it will behave more like a tree growing up on one trunk , good luck :o)

That's such a lovely bushy specimen Amy. Thank you for the advice . . . we've never pruned our 6-year old one, now I know why it's on the slim side!

It is a gorgeous shrub, one we had at another house over twenty years ago, it has bought back lovely memories ;0)
