I was just going to ask the Dawn, homemade Black Currant jam mmm delicious!

I haven't made any jam for a couple of years ,the last lot I made came out like little hard bullets Lol , I don't know what I did wrong , I usually freeze them and use them in pies / blackcurrant cheese cake etc. I rescued 2 Chaffinches out of the fruit cage this evening and one out of the net covering the Blueberries , it's a good job we were here if not they would have been in trouble .....

Those birds, rabbits, squirrels etc. want all your produce Amy. I hate it when birds are trapped, well done on the rescue mission.
My red currants will be ready soon. :-)

I've found a nice easy looking Microwave recipe Dawn I might try that ! I saw another rabbit in the garden this morning :o(

Picked just under 7lb of Redcurrants yesterday, took longer washing and cleaning than it did picking them. lol. Then last night, I made jam and juice, using about 4lb of them. The rest I will do something with tonight.

I've tried the Microwave method Linda and have put the recipe on , it's very quick and easy and what's more the jam is delicious some of the nicest I've tasted , you don't boil it away like you do in a jam pan , you do need a big bowl though so that it doesn't boil over . My red currants haven't come to anything this year I had a new bush last year and it's been so dry , we had a few drops this morning but nothing since about Feb.

Well we had a very warm day on Friday, a scorcher on Saturday, started off warm and sunny yesterday, and then the rain came again, and today it's been a scorcher again. Poor plants don't know if they're coming or going.

They are producing early this year. We had bushes when we lived down the road and I didn't usually get blackcurrants until July. Blackcurrant jam.......yummie. I had so many that I used to freeze some.
