Beetle from the larva? Or Larva from eggs laid by the beetle?

You can see part of the camera lens reflected..lol. I found two kinks of beetle on my ravaged VC...trying to figure out what's at work here...

Handsome beetle Lori. I'd guess that this is a good guy and it's probably the sawfly larva doing all of the destruction on your VA Creeper (that is if the larva is in fact sawfly).

I hope he is, in fact, one of the good guys as you say Diohio... There were many of these on the creeper both on the house and here on the fence...I squished the larvae and hosed and did my best to put them off...looks like i have some new growth so either they finished or I succeeded in killing them off... lol Will have to get a pic of a real June Bug for you Taffy!! this little guy is about the size of a June Bug's head...lol.
