One of my all time favourites, diamond dusted ,a strange coating some dayliles have that make them glisten in the sun, doesn't show on a photo though unfortunately, a real beauty.

I have been waiting for these too, its gorgeous, a real star!! wondering when I should plant mine out they are around 2yrs old now, just concerned that the slugs will devour them, what do you think?

Dont know about Simbad, PP, but they dont trouble daylilies much (unless they are starving of course lol)

Yes DD we've had a few really heavy showers yesterday and today, at last :-))))
Lol me too Tetrarch:-)
Thanks Amy:-)
Like Tetrarch says they don't bother them too much,I planted some seedlings out a few weeks a go and no slug damage so sure they'll be fine to plant out, its the gall midge that are the main problem on the early varieties but fingers crossed no sign this year, yet, hoping I did a good job last year of picking off the infected buds, sure there'll be a few though keeping my eyes peeled.

Exciting times.

Does the gall midge make the buds big and bulbous Simbad?
8 Jun, 2011
Yes Tetrarch, you have to pick any off that you see and destroy them (if you open the bud you can sometimes see the little blighters) or the larvae will drop to the ground overwinter and emerge as a midge to start the cycle again, heartbreaking last year going round picking off all the buds, but did still have a good show, luckily they only affect the early flowerers, fingers crossed I don't have any yet so must have done a fairly good job last year, although did get a new daylily yesterday with a flower scape that does look like its infected, so had to pick off all but one bud I'll be keeping my eye on that too.

Hope you didn't find too many Tetrarch:-(
Me too Motinot, had 1 disappointment today though, bought 4 daylilies from a supplier 2 years ago 1 died!!! (almost unheard of) 1 flowered last year and was the wrong plant today another opened and thats wrong too, only one to go, wonder if that'll be right, know we all make mistakes and I could understand 1, certainly won't be buying anymore from them.

Oh how annoying Simbad..not those special spiders I hope. I had one die early this year, like you I couldnt believe it.
I would certainly complain to the supplier..you might just get the right thing if you do.
I had to pick off about a dozen buds from several plants, not too bad.

Think I might do Tertrarch, the last one has buds so think I'll wait and see if thats right first, trouble is its taken two years for these last ones to flower(such small plants) seems a long time to complain, sent me a sale leaflet the other day, certainly won't be having any more no matter how cheap they are.
No not the lovely spiders :-) one opened the other day 'Applique' its gorgeous, the flower didn't open properly think it was a pretty cool night so waiting for a better one before I post a picture, love it:-), definitely be sticking to pollies and theflowerbower from now on and my few favourites on ebay:-)
