Yes terra....ranging from dark purple to orange it's really eye catching.

Yes I think it was Karensusan. All my Xmas vouchers was spent on shrubs in dobbies :)

My one has lost it's orangey tints now, but it's a really lovely colour.

It is not in full sun Wells. But it does get quite a bit. It doesn't get the sun until after noon.
It is supposed to tolerate full sun and partial shade. Karensusan above has said hers has lost it orange colour. It would be interesting to know where she has hers planted. Maybe she will tell us. Then we could decide how it keeps the orange colour on the younger leaves. It would be good to know because I'm thinking of mOving it just a little to the right and back a wee bit to provide a wee bit more shelter for the Acer planted just offset to the left which is not in the shot. It's either that or move the Acer and I would hate to loose it as it cost me 40 quid and the Lady in Red only cost me 12.
I should really work out the sun and shade parts of my garden.....one day :))

thanks = Scottish for that info. I get so involved with this site, I can't find my answers to my questions, so forgive me for taking so long. We are in a rain pattern now, so the garden is GROWING so lots of work also. There is one problem with gardens. You can't pull out as easily as plant . And since most plants do grow, and push each other around, it's hard on the old back! My ideas are many, but my garden seems to be stuck unless I move this and that.
The hottest summer since starting to record temperatures. So many plants to look at. And much to move. Thanks again. Wells

Actually, I do write a lot, but then have a problem finding which of the various black notebooks it is in..I have enough trouble with Passwords. When I find Lady in Red, I will put it in part shade. I have found that plants with red leaves do not like too much sun. Maybe nature figured it out, since we can see the red from a distance, why put it under full sun? Just thinking

Since time of writing Posy, I have moved this plant where it gets more sun - doesn't seem to have affected it. I'm sure there is a picture of it from summer just passed on the site. I'll have a look and if not, will go through my pics and post one for you.
