A bed containing a Lily, Gladiolus, Dahlias, Cosmos, Snapdragons, and Sparky Marigolds. I know, a lot for such a small bed, but we are just learning. I have lots of naturalized lilies around the yard, but this is the first in a bed. I'm considering digging them all up and placing several in here for next year.

I purchased it for $2.00 at a community garden sale. It was labeled "spring Lily" but I couldn't find that on google. It would be nice to know so I can move it if necessary.

If, when it finally flowers, each flower lasts only one day, then you'll know it is a daylily. I have a couple of hundred, and it looks very familiar!

It will if given the chance Beerslinger, crowd out the rest of the lovely plants...they can and do spread like mad...

Most of the others are annuals, so it shouldn't be a problem this year. Next year, I wouldn't plant anything within 2 feet of it (the gladiolus should be ok).

Hmmm.... One day of flowering for all that waiting? I may transfer this one to a different area next spring then.
Possibly transform this into a Chrysanthemum bed next year? The possibilities are endless.

Once you see it, it will be worth the wait. The dahlia may have to be lifted and stored frost free for the winter, then replanted in the spring, but the daylily will survive in place. And since the daylily can have 20 or more flowers, it gives a show for about a month and depending on which one it is, will rebloom towards the fall.

Ahhh, Okay. I thought it was a one shot deal, be home to see it or wait another year. If it keeps re-blooming then it will be well worth it from the images that google is showing me.

The one in the center looks more like a Daylily (Hemerocallis) than a lily (Lillium). It should be very colorful. :)
