Yes, it's a very brilliant, vibrant red! It's absolutely stunning when viewed in person.

Camillia:

Thanks! Yes, my newer camera captures the red flowers better than my last camera which made the flowers look orange.

Thanks for posting pictures of Delonix RĂ©gia, it reminds me December, Christmas and summer :)

Aleyna:

You're welcome. Yes, they would bloom there around Christmas (your summer)...I bet it's incredible to see these trees blooming around Christmas time. The flowers are such a bright red...it reminds me of Santa Claus' red outfit. :>)

These trees are just so gorgeous. :o)

Lindalooloo:

Unfortunately, it is virtually impossible to capture the true brilliant red of the flowers with a camera. They're such a brilliant scarlet, crimson color with a hint of orange.

In the tropics this tree becomes very large, to taller than 60ft/18m and have a spread of sometimes 90ft/27m. It's a sight to behold (I've seen them in Honolulu, Hawai'i this size). Here in San Diego the largest trees are only 35ft/11m tall with an equal spread. They also grow very large in south Florida and the low subtropical deserts of California and Arizona (this tree loves extreme heat).

They are just breathtaking. We have nothing here as beautiful as these. :o)

12 Aug, 2011

Thanks! I'm sure you have some beautiful flowering trees there, right?

12 Aug, 2011

Yes, we do have some beautiful trees here, but nothing in comparison with the colourful splender of yours. :o)

Lindalooloo:

I'm sure they're magnificent!

When you get into the true tropics the trees are even more wonderful and colorful! We are very lucky that we have many tropical/subtropical trees/shrubs which bloom all year here.

Many of the Hong Kong Orchid trees (Bauhinia x blakeana) are blooming already. This is very strange...as they don't start blooming until around late Sept and their peak bloom is in January (I've already seen some trees in full bloom).

Absolutely amazing! A bit like triple poinsettias growing on a tree. I don't think I ever imagined trees so bright, except for autumn leaf colour.

5 Mar, 2013

The flowers are very different than poinsettias.

This tree is considered by many as "the most beautiful flowering tree in the world!"

It's very different to capture the true brightness of the flowers even with a very expensive DSLR camera.

Im not surprised its called the most beautiful tree in the world, its a real stunner

i take it thats what your avatar name is after?

5 Mar, 2013

Yes, you're correct. It's my favorite flowering tree! I used to start hundreds of seedling, then sell them. I only have one in a pot now. I don't have one in the ground.

I wish I had planted one in the ground about 10 years ago...as they can take 3 - 7 years to start to bloom for the first time.

If only Jacarandas bloomed as late as those. What a pair that would make..awesome!

20 Sep, 2014

Jacaranda trees can still be in bloom in early July; however, it's not the peak bloom period here. Right now, the Jacarandas are in their late summer bloom. They bloom twice a year here...although, it's not as spectacular as the spring bloom.
