I have a thing for Clerodendrums, and this hardy tree is sooo sweetly fragrant.
Photo taken today at Oxfords botanic gardens where I went to meet up with Tetrarch.

All Clerodendrums are nice on the whole 6d! This is particularly nice because............
1. It appears to be very hardy,
2. It really is very fragrant,
3. It doesn't spread by suckers!
Here are all my Clerodendrum photos.............

Had to take a closer look, these flowers are so close to my arabian jasmine. Better still is this with this little pink pods growing alongside there too. :-) Lovely shot.

Thanks Greenthumb!

Greenthumb:
The flowers are close, but Arabian jasmine (or Pikake) doesn't have the long stamens like this flower.

Stamens are a feature of Clerodendrum flowers aren't they!

Meanie:
Yes, they are...I just love the flowers on C. quadriloculare....I think mine may bloom this year (even though it's not planted in the best spot...under the bananas).

C. quadriloculare is a stunner!
That's the photo that you put up a couple of weeks ago or so?

Yes, it growing under my Golden Finger bananas.
I really hope it blooms this year. I've had it for almost 3 years and it's never bloomed -- of course, it was in a pot (root-bound).

I would be impatient for that one!

I'll try to stay patient. lol! :>)

A bit like me and my Erythrina!
17 Aug, 2011
Erthrina species sometimes will not flower in pots...it just depends on conditions. My Clerodendrum quadriloculare was in a root-bound pot for almost two years (until last late summer or early fall). I think now that it's in the ground it may flower (I'm hoping).
