You should see my F.thalia Sticki!
Deffo one of my favourite Fuchsias 6d!
28 Aug, 2011
Keep protected over winter then Meanie as they are not too good surviving the winter.
28 Aug, 2011
To be honest, I just grow them as annuals 6d.
28 Aug, 2011
Yes thats the best way then you don't have to worry about storage.
28 Aug, 2011
can you put a photo on please? so i can see how it ought to be!!!!!!!!!!!!
28 Aug, 2011
I love the Thalia..all those dark leaves with the rich orangy red flowers...gorgeous! This is nice to mind you...

Meanie:
I really do love these smaller varieties. I see them planted a lot in shady areas, however, have never grown one myself.

One of the nicest Fuchsia for me Delonix.......

I am going to try to take some cuttings from the fuchias again this year. Last years ones have grown very well in the flower beds. Must take some geranium cuttings soon, when the peppers have finished.
30 Aug, 2011
I say I will but never do - there's a nursery just up the road does them for £1.25.........
30 Aug, 2011
the nursery not so far from here often does 10 for £5 ~ its a fuchsia specialist!!
30 Aug, 2011
Jeez - best keep Sue away from there!
30 Aug, 2011
well worth the visit i think!!
30 Aug, 2011
We were out kinda your way on Sunday - went to Evesham. Stopped off at Cotswold Garden Flowers and grabbed a Ferraria crispa for me!
30 Aug, 2011
oh, not a ferrari then ~ sorry, must have misread that!!
evesham not so far away!! i havent been to cotswold garden flowers??? is it worth a visit?
if i had known you were coming my way ~ i would have made a cake!!
30 Aug, 2011
I don't like Ferraris!
CGF is my kinda place - no real discernible order, but crammed full of stuff. The sort of place you can visit and always find something different.
Ferraria crispa..............

aha i can see why you liked that ~ its another special one ~ very interesting.
just looked up google to find where the cotswold garden flowers is, i may have visited there cos we used to go through Badsey quite a lot ~ my mum and dad lived in sedgeberrow and in cleeve prior ~ not so very far!!
i think i may pay them a visit!! i also note that chatsworth house [not sure what the connection is] has an autumn plant sale on sunday week ~ would be very tempting!!
31 Aug, 2011
A little whiffy too from what I've read!
It's worth a visit - certainly in the spring.
31 Aug, 2011
chatsworth house is whiffy?? i have been to its gardens a few times and love it ~ that emperor fountain is tremendous!! never been in the house.
how did you get this fuchsia to gleam like it does?
31 Aug, 2011
Nooooo!
My Ferraria will be a little whiffy apparently.
Triphylla Fuchsia flowers are "waxy" (not literally), so reflect any bright light Sticki.
31 Aug, 2011
ah, i see; looks good tho ~ i like that gleam, hoya flowers are waxy arent they? [if i have the right name?]
31 Aug, 2011
They are - name correct too!
31 Aug, 2011
i think they have a strong scent and so does stephanotis?? which is similar again??
31 Aug, 2011
My Hoya is blooming now, and boy is it fragrant!
I don't know Stephanotis - off to have a look.
31 Aug, 2011
used to be used in brides bouquets!!
31 Aug, 2011
I recognize it now! Well fragrant!
31 Aug, 2011
maybe not your sort of thing!! and i think can be overpowering
31 Aug, 2011
I quite like them - just tend to see something else that catches my eye........
31 Aug, 2011
they aren't as 'different' as some of your others.
31 Aug, 2011
More that I'm easily distracted!
31 Aug, 2011
ah join the club!!! i am very easily distracted!!! from anything.
31 Aug, 2011
I'm not usually too bad, but I go plant shopping with a plan which accidently goes out the window once I'm there!
1 Sep, 2011

1 Sep, 2011
I'm very organised about food shopping - no plan, just see what inspires me.........
1 Sep, 2011
