Yes, thanks Cinders. I can see that circle having to grow a bit though to accommodate it next year! Perhaps if it does survive, I'll move it somewhere a bit roomier!

I don';t know this plant, I just had to look it up. It looks like a cornflower but more substantial and better behaved. It's a georgous colour.

Thanks y'all. I found it in the 'alpines' part of the GC in the spring. I'd seen it on here before and remembered it, so I grabbed it quick!

Oh I'm so envious now, mine are still little seedlings not growing very fast, hope they survive the winter, yours looks great Karen :-)

New to me until I saw it on here. I thought it a lovely colour and I'm really pleased with it. Its great to have plants that start flowering late isn't it?

Certainly is, I have been and tidied up in the big border this morning and it has left huge gaps I shall have to make a list for plants to put in there, it is the same every year, thought I had sorted it last year but for some reason (think the rabbits) it hasn't grown and filled in as well as it should have. I am thinking a small shrub now as I have a very dark bronze leaved Weigela (Alexander) think that is its name, which is doing really well at the top of the border and a two tone one in the middle towards the front of the big border and it is doing well too. So I am thinking it might be a good idea to put something along those lines in, the bunnies seem to leave the bushes alone. Something that is evergreen would be best though, just cannot make my mind up yet. Will keep working on it.

That looks really good against that wood, KS. It really shows off the colour and form of the plant, so well...

Know what you mean about the rabbits Barbara, we're pretty overrun too, planted a whole new border at the bottom of the garden last year, which should be looking lovely now, but they've chewed nearly every plant to the ground, its out with the wire netting again I think, its a pain having to cover everything, one lovely lobelia was flowering but they've even bit the head of that today, grrrr, we do have a ferrel cat we've been feeding(not too much though want him to keep the mice and rabbits in check) saw him trotting off down the garden with something in his mouth yesterday, hopefully a rabbit.
I've been planning what annuals to grow next year as always lots of gaps this time of year isn't there, new T+M seed catalogues just arrived :-)

yes Kathy, my catalogue arrived today too. I am fenced off on the drive side but some got in through the field the little perishers then jumped the dyke to nibble all my new plants. Caught them eventually but the damage had been done, new roses were ruined, think they might never recover.

What a shame, you never know roses are pretty tough, why is it always the newly planted things they go for, can't believe they come in my garden with the allotments just at the bottom of the garden, you'd think they'd prefer to go on there, rabbit heaven, unfortunately our gardens too large to fence it all off, so have to put up with them, usually the fox keeps the numbers down, but no sign of him lately.

Thanks Karen....ah, now we get to see you! Actually, in that photo, you look a bit like moi methinks! Now, aint that funny!
Sorry Kathy and Mum, interrupting your rabbit talk!!

Very lovely. Is it a new variety of cornflower?
15 Sep, 2011
No Dwyllis, I don't think it is related to the cornflower at all..just a lovely blue alpine type plant.
