the mama and daddy have come back every year now for 5 years to raise their babies.........it's always exciting to watch.

Lucky you, we seem to have loads of owls at the moment, never seen them but at night its like an audition for x factor, very noisy :-)

they came down from their nest high in the eucalyptus in june because it was so very hot. i looked out the window and saw something hop past. when i went outside, there was a baby all fluffed up and hissing at a very confused cat...he was almost as big as the cat, who seemed a bit intimidated. we were worried about them for the first day or two; they weren't feathered out and couldn't fly yet. so, we attached a cage upside down and nested it for them in a tree with the top open; then gently picked them up in our hands and put them in to keep safe until they could get higher in the branches (cats, you know...) fairly quickly, they could hop/fly into the branches and stay out of reach. mom & dad hawk have come back now for 5 yrs in a row to have their family...

Lovely story...nice to have them returning each year...they are happy to nest there obviously....
