When ever I look up the hill thro the shaded trunks of the tall trees I'm reminded of Robert Frost..."The forest is lovely, dark and deep...and miles to go before I sleep..."
No Grizzly Adams, I'm afraid, Sticki...just Grizzly Lori..lol...
It was all done my M. Nature, Crissue! The asters grow very tall (Panicled Asters ...A.simplex or A. lanceolatus) almost to 6 feet. Along the margins of the forest they define the edge of the clearing and give shelter for small animals approaching the clear area... they can sit at the edge and peek out to see who's about!

That is the thing that has had me enthralled all summer long...These flowers grow without the input of humanity...best a person can do is make sure we do not cut them down at a critical stage of their growth...or remove a factor that is critical to their growth...(like tree limbs that provide the shade they need, etc.) As a result I will keep track of what grows where and do as little harm to the natural plan as possible...while trying to superimpose my own plan with as light a touch as possible. I find I like natures plan better than any I have managed to produce. To me, getting it right means getting it where it would grow happily without anything added by me!
