Youngdaisydee:

Thanks! This variety of Coleus is called 'Amour'. The middle plant has been in this spot for more than 3 years.

The Elephant's Ear is Alocasia 'Calidora' or Persian Palm...it's still small, it can grow to 15ft/4.6m tall. I have an Alocasia 'Portodora' which is 7ft/2.2m tall, which has been in the ground since late summer 2008.

Here's a photo of my friend's Alocasia 'Calidora':

Poppylover:

Believe me, the parrots are here. There's a flock of 25 of them living in the neighborhood, they're very noisy. They used to just fly over for many years...they just recently moved in for good.

The feral populations of parrots have exploded in San Diego over the last 4 or 5 year. They're driving some people nuts!

Oh wow, that is huge Delonix, reminds me of me and sis buying our Aliums from the same GC at the same time, she allways got 7/8 flowers while i got 3/4 :((( every year i checked mine against hers just in the hope of mine having more flowers but, it didn't happen, then last year she left hers out in the BIG freeze and it died! hahahahahaha (evil laugh) I still only got 3 flowers this year lol..

Frybo:

Thanks! It's not unusual when one lives in a mild (frost free) subtropical climate. :>)

Yeah, yeah, no need to rub it in.

You can go off people you know!

Frybo:

I always rub it in! lol! :>)

Seriously, we're very lucky here...we can grow pretty much any subtropical and many tropical trees/shrubs/plants here in San Diego, CA.
