Lobelia 'Tupa' (Lobelia tupa (Devils Tobacco))

Lost all my lobelia tupa last winter, even though they survived the previous cold winter, thank goodness I collected seed, these are this years babies, think they can stay in the greenhouse till spring were I can give them some protection just in case we get another bad winter.

Thats strange Amy, I always find these germinate easily, did you surface sow them?, I store all my seeds in the fridge and know lobelia seeds do sometimes need pre- chilling so maybe thats why they germinate well, never know you could get some growth next spring after a cold snap :-)

They look healthy Kathy, I dont blame you for protecting them until Spring.
Amy, people have said that shop bought seed didnt do well this year - due to poor storage of the seed by the companies through the horrendous winter. I bought some sunflower seeds in Spring from Wilkos and only one germinated, far better results growing from your's and Kathy's seed. ;-)

I did put them in the fridge Kathy as per the instructions , If I remember rightly Kathy /Dawn It was on Ebay that I spotted the seed so you don't really know if they had been stored properly !!

Thats how I got mine going Motinot, did sow mine in spring don't know if that made any difference, I'd give them a bit longer, if nothing you could always put them in the fridge for a couple of weeks then back in the warmth, or outside for the winter, I always sow seeds like primulas etc that need a cold snap to get them going in the unheated greenhouse in autumn they usually sprout in spring, so worth a try.
