She was so intent on rolling and bathing I was able to take many shots, might make a quick blog. She is normally found going from shade to shade in summer, so this was unusual, but the chill had started.

Your tubs have done well Greenthumb. The cat looks content. Are you ready for the big freeze then? It's turning colder here now and we've had two slight frosts and are expecting a full one at the end of this week. I have dug out all the little fuchia plants and potted them and placed into the greenhouse ready for the winter.

Thank you Linda. It really was a great summer, so much enhanced by the last few years adding perennials. So much more bang every year for the buck :-) We are battened down. I cut out the last a few weeks ago and spread thick straw on the beds. We are on our third day of snow now, wet icky icy snow. I am hoping for a temp drop to keep things dry and ice free. Its like summer to winter in a day here.

Janey, thank you. We're all snuggled in already, caught her staring into a ray of sun upstairs today. She a little down now the snow fell.

We all fall victim to the doldrums when the short cold days arrive. The darkness will be starting soon, I guess?
have been collecting brush and limbs from the pruning I've been doing...so the gardens will be under a cover of cedar boughs and I won't be raking leaves til next spring.
so much to do..but at least I'll have a few weeks longer to work than you have had. Must admit I'm kinda dreading the cold. Leave it to a cat to find the puddle of sun! Do you still have all your houseplants?

The cold is here and the days are just 9-5 of light, already full winter dark for most people. I am not at all glad or appreciating the cold setting in this year. So I get you there. I don't want to even imagine the days ahead. I've got a few less plants inside, but mostly because they are all larger. :-) That I am enjoying, settling into the indoor garden, getting things arranged, they get neglected in summer months.

my orchids are so rag-tag that I'm a little ashamed how I've neglected them...months and months ahead to make up for it though. No snow yet...thankfully. Have a feeling it won't be too long.

Thank you. Yes, they are peace roses. They are one of my favorite as well. I couldn't pass them up. They are inside now, keeping well enough, though probably not till late spring for more blooms.
