A close up of the bloom on my peace rose. Too many shots to only show one. :-) Probably the one on my blog, but its still pretty. This is so new to me, as standard roses are a little rare around here, treated almost like an annual.

Thank you both. That would be the reason that the peace rose is my favorite variety. :-)
Quick story, I went to the Portland Rose Gardens, in Oregon when I was very young, 5 or 6 at most. It took the entire day to walk through, Japanese garden attached, but among all those 'rows of rose' (teehee) varieties, we each, six siblings in all, chose a favorite from among these. Probably an hour or more smelling and observing each. That is when I chose the Peace rose. Still, my favorite, just so wonderful.

I used to grow this rose when I still lived at home & I still like it very much! Your close up is very good! I've added it to my favourites! :-))

Oh thank you. So much enjoyment growing this. Thanks for the favorite Balcony. This rose proved very photogenic. :-)

I was thinking as I wrote my post yesterday that perhaps I ought to move my shrub rose "Fred Loads" down to the allotment & put "Peace" in its place.
The shrub rose "Fred Loads" has "survived" (can't say prospered or grown very well or looked happy), for the better part of 10 years, all the time we've lived here, in a fairly big tub in a corner of our balcony. Each year it seems to do worse. About 3 years ago I emptied it out & removed other plants that were growing with it leaving in only a few bulbs that wouldn't compete with it but that didn't seem to make any difference. Maybe it's a weak plant but in its first years it did get up to head high, now it barely makes it up to chest high! It can grow well over 2m (6ft) high & have several flushes of blooms a year. Now I'm lucky if I get 1 or 2 flowers let alone heads with 10 or more flowers on them!
I found one of the photos I uploaded to My Photos last year:

There are more photos of this lovely rose that I must say is one of my favourites!
