Pots and plants all going with us! The dogs are looking forward to it just as much as me - they've almost forgotten what their legs are for, poor things...

Such beautiful coconuts! I wish they would grow like this here. Coconuts looks like very dwarf trees here in San Diego (that's when you see them).

I think it's because we are in a lagoon, Delonix, and there is no shortage of brackish water under their roots. Thousands of coconuts - but I'm still searching for a Kigelia!

We have lots of lagoons in San Diego County, also (more than any other place in California). We do have many non-native palms which naturalize here...just not Coconuts. It's a little too cool here for coconuts to grow well. Although, you wouldn't believe it today...as the high was 87ºF/31ºC. tomorrow suppose to be the same.

Every day here the temperature is rising. When I arrived it was a fairly constant 28/29°C (rainy season) but now it's around 30°C first thing in the morning and going up...

It's amazing how much difference the trees make in the garden, tho'!

Yes, it cools down in winter. However, we do always get winter heat waves...sometimes lasting a week. It's caused by Santa Ana Winds, which are dry off-shore winds. We can get temps up to more than 90ºF/32ºC in the middle of winter.

It depends where one lives...far inland canyons can get quite cold...sometimes down to freezing, however, a freezing night can easily rise 70°F/21°C. during the day.

Where I live in inland, urban San Diego, the weather is extremely mild, we don't get frost and temps seldom go down below 45°F/7°C. on January nights. The climate here is warm subtropical. The average high in the coldest month (January) is 20°C/68°F. Although, many times it can be much, much warmer...or sometimes cooler.

We get at least two hail storms a year here. Hail, wind and hot sun does the majority of the damage to my plants, here.

We have a lot of micro-climates here in California. However, the low elevations tend to be broadly classified as: Mediterranean, subtropical (however, different degrees based on locations...excluding the deserts). It's pretty complex, actually!

Yes, we're going to be getting a big storm by tomorrow. Snow will fall on Mt. Laguna which is at 6,000ft/1829m high (it's an hour and twenty minute drive from where I live).

The high Sierra Mountains are covered with snow all winter.

We're definitely a big state with many climates. I'm just so glad I live in the city which has the mildest climate in the state. :>)

I think I tend to forget just how huge America is, Delonix...I've only ever been to New York City...(had a great time there!)

Lagos, on the other hand is a small state with two climates...hot and dry...and hot and wet! lol! :)

Yes, California is a big state...bigger than many countries...and of course, the U.S. is very large.

The distance from San Diego to New York, NY is 2,852 miles (4,590 km). It's pretty darn far! :>)

About the same distance as Lagos is from Paris! lol! :))
