Variety or cultivar: 'Rubella' _ 'Rubella' is a small, male variety with dark-green leaves edged in red and attractive flower buds, which appear in autumn and winter, opening into scented flowers in spring. It is suitable for containers and provides good all year round colour.
Skimmia japonica 'Rubella' is: Evergreen
Flower: White in Spring
Foliage: Flushed red in All seasons
Fragrance: Flowers are fragrant.
Habit: Compact
Toxicity: If ingested, berries may cause discomfort.
Awards: RHS AGM (Award of Garden Merit)

I like collecting things for the garden also. I was looking at my stones a few days ago thinking they needed scrubbing!!! hee hee hee ... ;o)

yep my neighbours probably think I am - I am glad I am not the only one that scrubs the rocks :D I go roundf with a washing up bowl with hot soapy water and scrubbing brush :)))))))))))

You know.....you could always fly over this way....bowl, soapy water and scrubby brush ready.
Don't worry I'm a clean freak myself. There are just so many other things that need to be done in the garden...I only started it last year. I can see me in years to come secretly scrubbing my rocks. Shuuu....

I like the pine cones Paul - another idea I will have to steal. Now I need to get myself out for a long walk!
Unfortunately I can't grow Skimmias in my garden as my soil is no good for acid lovers. They are nice though.

Thanks Frybo - you must get any pics of cones and things you collect - I love rustic woodland :))) Have to keep mulching the garden adding acidic stuff - the azaleas dies on me though :(((
