Alfie -The Destroyer !

This Little Springer Spaniel is really a naughty boy. It's my son's dog (glad I don't have him full time!!). They have a new kitchen on order and have had to put a hold on it as Alfie has started chewing the units, the chairs, the table and anything else. He jumps as if he's on a pogo stick and can already see what's on the top of the units. As a family we have always had Springers - but this is the naughiest I have seen. He's also an escape artist so whilst we look forward to him spending hours in the garden, we'll probably end up chasing him when he gets out!! Oh, I'm too old for all this again!!

Ooops remember those times well, our last lovely chocolate lab chewed through a set of book shelfs and a door frame when he was a pup, couldn't leave him alone without him getting up to mischief, OH made him a run in the garage to put him in when we went out with some wooden fencing (we'd have had no house left otherwise) came home and he'd chewed through that too, only been out an hour, we were in the process of moving at the time so loads of boxes in the garage, every one was emptied,it was as if he was having a paddy because we'd left him:-) in the end we got him one of those metal dog crates, which he loved, only had to see you put your coat on and he went in it,maybe because he knew he got a biscuit:-) luckily when he turned 1 the chewing stopped so the crate could go, phew.

Thank you Simbad. I have a large cage - I never thought of that. We'll try him. I bought the cage when I bought a Ragdoll cat that had never lived in a house. That was only March 2011 and now she is so loving, so beautiful and such a treasure. I used to put her in the crate when I was gardening so she could be with me. It has paid off. She's so good.
Yes, I'm rambling sorry. We will try the crate. He's got a large outside run attached to the garage but the weather is too bad at the moment. Evan that will have to be adapted as he is trying to scramble over the fencing. Happy days.!!! Happy New Year to you and your family.

Happy New Year to you too :-)

The crate is an excellent idea, dont force him into it...tempt him with treats....Give him lots of different things to chew on as well...Charley our Spaniel/poodle cross also jumps as though he's on a pogo stick...its amazing the heights he can reach...Alfie is lovely....good luck Sprog
