Yours will get bigger and better each year,Paul..I have had this a good few years now,and this is the first time its had so many plumes..and it is still one of my favourite plants.I am debating whether to split it this year ....

I`ve only had mine for two years so its still quite small. I`ll bet yours looks lovely in the summer. :o)

It does Sandra..but I love it in winter just as much..I might cut some for an indoor arrangement,as they look good in a tall vase, just on their own..:o)

Makes a striking backdrop Sandra, if you do split it could I please have a little piece please;0))

It will cost you,Carole ! another meal out,do you think ? Lol.I will see how easy it is to split first,as I haven't done it before..My 'man that does'may have to have a go..but if I tell him who it's for,I'm sure he will oblige :o))

Tell him I'll buy him a pint next time we go out lol

I'm sure that would tempt him,Carole..:o)

We split ours in March 2010 ... used 2 garden forks back-to-back ... then a saw for the really stubborn roots ... along with brute force and ignorance ... worked though! ... :o)

Oh heck! looks like I will have to engage the help of my Octenagarian neighbours then, or you and Michael..! Lol.

21 Jan, 2012

It was definitely worth all the effort ... made three plants from the original one! ... :o)))

It does,Homebird..just lifts that border in winter..:o)

Thanks N3,and still looking good.:o)..first predicted snowflakes are falling .(1pm).so it will look even nicer ..although I would be quite happy if it wasn't going to be covered !

Well we have had A snowflake now just raining :o) Have a lovely day.

Lets hope that's all you have,N3. :o).no rain here at all,for ages..but the temperature has reached the dizzy heights of 0 degrees, instead of the -6 we have had the past two days..poor birds..I keep going to thaw the bird bath out,but it's almost a waste of time..they are well fed anyway..:o)

We have had a lot of rain, in fact this year the garden has been water logged as never before !! I took Tony to the garage earlier and when we went back to pick his car up the rain drops had all frozen. I have never seen that before. The garage is over Wyre and the winds must have been biting!!!! I have been out three times with the kettle to thaw out the water, looked out after an hour and two starlings were skating :o) so funny but didn't get my camera in time.

You sound as though you have had it worse than us,N3..it was a beautiful sunny day yesterday, with the most intense blue sky,and no wind at all,or today either..I hate the wind most of all..shame you didn't have your camera to hand with the starlings..that would have been a good one..:o)

We have had some gorgeous sunny days but I am surprised just how water logged the garden is. I have been woken several times in the night (not that I sleep in the day :o) ) with rain pattering on the Velux !!! My OH would laugh if he read your comment, I REALLY hate the Wind soooooooooooo much :o))))

Have just found this lovely photo - how effective it looks against the red berries.
Thanks for your kind reactions to my photos, it was lovely to think that you had seen them and liked them. My husband took most of them - not me!

Thank you,Wildrose..we managed to split it last week,. so it doesn't look like this anymore..! It is now looking like stubble, but new shoots have appeared already..The other half is now in a large tub,in the back garden, and will hopefully hide a bare bit of fence..It was nice to see your pics, and it doesn't matter who takes them, they are always welcome .:o)
