A very junior snowdrift in my "squirrel-proof" nut feeder - which I don't use because it's nothing of the kind.

lol. well, I can't compete with wide-open-spaces-swathed-in-white-grandeur, so I thought I'd scale down a bit. No idea what caused the "drift" - I moved the feeder carefully to find a decent angle to photograph it from, it still stuck there with very little visible means of support!

that's a buterfly put on the cage, for some reason - stained plastic, at least.
went out this morning, no drift, but a lump of snow on a box under the feeder; it must have slimmed down enough to fall through the gap

probably, it was a bit mushy at 08015 this am - if I'd thought, I could have chucked it in my "pond" and recycled it. ah well, I'll try to remember next time

lol it's been in the periphery of other pics - and I pointed it out in one blog. can't remember which - it's an old blue baby bath that I'm going to recycle as soon as I can find the right place for it, and get it properly insulated all round. For now, it's my water reservoic
ah, just looked - Starter for 12

as a ps, this feeder was sold to me as "squirrel-proof". the squirrels had no trouble getting into it! I thought about putting wire round it to make the gaps smaller; how small, any ideas? or, to turn it round, how big a gap does your average wild bird need? at least one who'd be interested in nuts?
