Amaryllis 6 Red with white stripes on table 16-02-2012 001 (Amaryllis)

Today I had 6 bulbs of the Red with white stripes open simultaneously on the living room table! They make such a wonderful show!

You are so incredibly quick off the mark, TT! I was editing the photo which you were looking at it!

Glad you like them, they put up such a lovely show when you have a few together like I have!

@TT: That's true, they look so much better when they are grouped together.

@Joanella: So happy you like this photo so much it has become one of your favourites! :-))

Although they seem expensive when you see £13.90 in reality you are paying no more than you would for just one at a GC or supermarket or other places. They have even come down in price because this year I saw lots of them for sale in the supermarkets for just £6 each. That's a big drop from £10 they were being sold for before!

I suppose if you look at it that way they are worth it..mind you the prices i have been paying for plants/seeds from catalogues..I wouldnt like to add it all up..lol

oh, lovely! I don't usually try houseplants - well, house flowers, I stick to foliage plants, they don't seem to be so delicate. But yours are lovely, and maybe, when i get some room to move, and to display plants ...

They really are undemanding, just a little water from time to time with some fertilizer during the summer & they will grow away almost unnoticed - if you can call 2 foot long leaves "unnoticeable"! They only need frost protection during winter & very little water & they will reward you with their huge, showy blooms in the Spring!

thanks, Balcony, I'll add them to my "maybe" list, sub-section "houseplants"
